Imagine if you were abducted by aliens tomorrow, they spoke no English and even their body language was
different. While you knew they wanted something from you, you weren't sure what, except that , on occasion,
something you did caused their poking and nagging and hitting to stop. And with luck, they would put you in your
cage and go away , as the supreme reward. Think how confused and frustrated you would be!
However... to quote Alois Podhajsky, a longtime director of the famous Spanish Riding School of Vienna, "
Absence of punishment does not equal reward". And, I , for one, don't want my horse to feel that the best reward
is to get away from me!
Then a new alien shows up, he doesn't hit, instead, every time you do the right thing, he makes a particular
sound and rewards you . How would you feel? About the training? About the alien?
That is what clicker training is, teaching the horse that the click means "Yes, that's right!" And rewarding
appropriate behavior. How would you feel in those circumstances?
It can be used during the right strike off at the canter, loading, anything- think of the possibilities...

Someone recently called and, while loving her horse, was seriously thinking of selling him. Now she is
amazed and thrilled - after the first session, the attitude and behavior radically changed. Give clicker training a
chance - you have nothing to loose! Don't give up- just change the game!
Work with you to assure you meet your objectives.
